Vestas Series

All three Vestas models in this guide are geared. The V110-2.0 MW is the low-wind member of the 2 MW platform: a doubly-fed (slip-ring) generator with a partial-power converter. The V126-3.45 MW and V136-4.2 MW belong to the 4 MW platform and use a full-scale converter.

The most decisive difference across the series is the drivetrain layout: the V110 has one planetary and two helical stages, the 4 MW platform two planetary and one helical stage. That changes weight, the size of the oil system and the symptoms you follow in the field. Every specification on these pages comes from manufacturer-published documents, with sources listed.
